Keep ECO turned on

I have a 2021 SD and was wondering if there was a way to turn on the ECO mode so it stays on and i don't have to keep turning it on every time I start the engine?

When I was trying it I recall the screen coming up and asking if I wanted to keep it on when I started the truck up.

You have to hit ok when prompted. Like that extra half gallon mileage bump? I do.

I have not found a way to keep it on at all times without hitting OK when the screen prompt comes up. Sometimes I forget and have to hit the button a few miles after I've started out.

Yes, but this does not keep it on "permanently" or until you turn it off. It happens every time you start the truck. If you were in the Eco mode when the truck was shut down, of course.

On my 2022, I've found it remains in ECO-mode when I restart the truck within a certain amount of time ... and has done so when the truck was off for about an hour. I do not know the maximum time limit for ECO-mode to remain active when restarting. I do get the reminder when I start the truck the first time each day.

This is my same experience. If I turn it on and am getting in and out of the truck often, it will remember to stay in ECO mode, and a reminder light will pop up each time I crank it, but if I let it sit for a while then it will switch back to normal mode. I have gotten to where I don't even worry about ECO mode unless I am doing long trips on the highway now...

I find this also. Not sure what the max time shut off is either. I do know that when I shut the truck down for the night, it will ask me the next morning if I want to return to Eco. But it's a pretty short window. If your attention is someplace else for even a few seconds you'll miss it.

FYI, per the manual:

Your vehicle starts in the last selected
drive mode for appropriate modes when
starting the vehicle within two hours of the
last key off. If the vehicle has been off for
more than two hours, a drive mode reminder
prompt displays on the instrument cluster
which requires you to confirm before the
vehicle returns to the last selected drive
mode.
I do think, though, that it resets to Normal after a certain amount of time (unless I'm just missing the prompt when starting the truck for the first time in the morning).

I like eco mode not because I’m saving trees driving a super duty but I feel like (when the trucks unloaded and not pulling a trailer) it gets rid of the clunkiness.

in normal drive mode and driving unloaded it has poor shift patterns etc. eco mode makes it a nicer ride.

Like all previous comments I really like my Eco mode and wish the tranny would "stay put" where I left it.

Seems though, I recall in a truck forum long ago and far away, the people who lived there didn't care for Eco mode all that much...

What is ECO supposed to do really? Just smooth out acceleration?

Yes, but what is it doing as far as the truck is concerned to get that result?

Seems to keep the rpms down and shifts sooner.

I noticed that in ECO mode when I push resume on the cruse it keeps it at 25-30% throttle and changes the gears earlier to keep RPMs lower to get up to speed compared to the "N" setting where it goes up to 30-40% throttle and changes gears later allowing higher RPMs...
