Just took delivery of my 2022 F250 Lariat, 7.3 gas with the FX-4 package. Over the years I have owned 5 new F-250 with the FX-4 package and they all came with Rancho shocks. This one has a black shock?
Is this because it is a gas powered truck vs diesel like my others? Dealer has no explanation
The "Rancho" shocks on my '17 F250 were junk, replaced them with Fox 2.0's and they made a world of difference. I have Bilstein 5100's in my garage that I will be installing on my '22 F450 hopefully this weekend. I am sure the shocks I pull off my 450 will be dead also with only 6500 miles on them.
As previously stated, I believe 2017 was the last year for "rancho" shocks which I don't believe they were actually rancho, just painted Ford shocks.
I agree that the Rancho shocks were about one notch above the delivery shocks that are on the truck now. I typically change to Bilstein 5100 when i get the 2.5" leveling kit installed on the front. The Bilstein shocks have served me well over the years for my type of driving
the time line makes sense as my last new SD was a 2017 diesel
I was mainly just curious about what happened to FX-4 option. This is also my first Super Duty with a gas engine. Didn't know if that had something to do with it?
I lost 3 of the 4 shocks with oil leaks with less than 5k miles. Replaced them all rather than having the dealer put the same garbage on. Anything is and will be an improvement. For now I have Bilstein shocks. Will upgrade them in the future if my needs change
