Transmission help

All,

I am new to this forum and would like to pick y’all’s brain. I have a 2005 4x4 Excursions, my wife was driving it the other day, after driving at highway seed she cam to a stop. When she tried to accelerate the truck would move and made a grinding sound. It sounded like it was stuck between gears. It did it in all forwards and reverse gears. Thanks in advance for any help.

You sure its coming from tranny? Grinding of the tranny wont last long.

It could also be the transfer case. Have you tired shifting transfer case modes (for 2wd to 4x4 ) to see if that makes any difference?

Welcome to the EX forum!

Transfer case or rear differential would be where I would check first. Grinding sounds from drivetrain typically mean new parts are about to be bought.
