MY DAD HAS A 92 FORD FLARESIDE WITH A 300 SIX
WHEN THE TRUCK IS BEING DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND YOU GO TO TURN THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON IT COMES OUT OF OVERDRIVE, IS THIS NORMAL OR IS THE A PROBLEM? IF ITS A PROBLEM, ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO CORRECT IT?
The section on hazardous driving conditions may give you a clue about this in the owners manual.Read carefully! It could be that the fuse for the hazards is on the same leg as the power for the transmission power supply, and when the hazards are on, the hazards will rob the current from the transmission or something like that. I'm curious myself, even though I don't have such a truck with that transmission.

According to the ford wiring diagram, the flashers and tranny should be on different circuits, so they shouldn't run off each other....meaning different fuses. Check your fuse box diagram and you should notice two seperate fuses running the circuit for the od and hazard flashers. A slight possibility could be if you are running any other kind of output off the alt that there is a draw of power causing a loss of power.....which would effect more than just the od on the tranny. My bronco has a the e40d and i have never tried running my hazards while driving fast enough to worry about overdrive. You should have a overdrive over ride button on the dash....maybe if the wires from that and the flashers are harnessed together.....there may be a short???? Sounds fishy.
I wasn't talking about cruise control...Go out to your truck, drive it fast enough to go into o/d, touch the brakes lightly enough to turn the brake lights on and see what happens.
