So I have a 94 F250 with the IDI Turbo and i'm having a hard time figuring out my E4od. so back story on it is I put it in the truck a few years ago after the original one only had 2nd and 3rd and the one I got was a Ford reman in a truck that was in storage for a bit that ended up in a junkyard. So i enjoyed it for a few months and then it gave me trouble. Did some research and thought it might be the solenoid pack or plug so I replaced both and it helped for awhile, then trouble again. Pulled my codes and got codes 23 and 29.So I put in a new vss was fine for a couple miles and right back to limp mode, od light flashing, hard shifts. So then more research and found out the PSOM could be it, so I went to my local yard, found a good one and put it in, and I finally had a breakthrough. I was happy to be able to finally get it inspected after 7 years of having the truck and 5 years of trying to fix the transmission. But my joy was short lived and I started having problems again. I'd come to stop and it would shudder slightly and go, shift fine go down the road fine. So I did MORE research and thought it might be the either the MLPS or the TC. So I went the cheap route first the replaced the MLPS. Had 2 days of it still acting the same then I let it sit for a couple weeks, went to drive it again and it would shudder worst at take off and it kept getting worse to the point were it will shudder and shake every piece of plastic in the cab on take off and under hard throttle but shifts fine and will go into limp when it shudders, and I dont know what code cause dummy me didnt test it at that time being so frustrated. So I tried a reman TC and fluid and filter. When I ran it through the gears after reverse is fine but all forward gears take a second to engage, and no change in driving on my road test but if I sit with the brakes on and mash the throttle it'll try to push through the brakes. I'm lost and frustrated with it at this point as I understand the E4od can be and i dont want to take it to a tranny shop if I can fix it myself. Sorry its so long, just want to say all the issues i've had with it. Hope I got it all out the first time lol, and thanks in advance
I forgot to mention too that it seems to neutral out or slip when it shudders too bad and I cant really climb a hill more then 10-15 mph. only does it in 1st,2nd at anytime or any throttle through those gears, alittle in 3rd just under hard acceleration and O/D still pulls good
False neutraling is a common symptom of a bad/failing MLPS. Typically you will never get a code for it.
But that can only happen in third or fourth gears, never in first or second. He is saying that it happens in first or second, but never third or fourth. This has to be a mechanical issue inside the transmission.
It does it do it in 3rd but its not as bad as it is in 1st and 2nd. I have to have my foot to the floor for it to do it in 3rd and it doesnt shake every piece of interior trim like 1st and 2nd.
