6.4l single turbo setup

Hello all, needing some help today. So recently I bent the shaft in my high pressure turbo. It’s been removed and after further inspection I realized the low pressure is on its last leg as well. Truck is a 2008 f250 6.4l CCSB 4x2 with 227,000 miles deleted with H&P tunes, stock power just emissions removed. I was wondering since I’m now in the market to replace both turbos which would be the wiser decision. Just replace the original turbos with stock drop in replacements or go all in and do a single turbo setup. I’m not looking to go all out and duel pump it or add bigger injectors or even turn the tune up on it. It is my daily driver and just want to get a feel about what everyone thinks. Thanks for any feedback and please don’t tell me how I should just get rid of the truck or replace the 6.4 with a Cummins because I’ve already contemplated that idea and as much as I’d love to put a 5.9 under the hood it’s just not in the budget right now maybe once the 6.4 is past the point of no return I’ll go that route but as of now it’s Still a good healthy 6.4 (minus the hurt turbos ) so I’ll keep it around for a bit longer. Please again any insight would be greatly appreciated.

You've had good luck with the existing configuration. I would think you would want to stay with the double turbo and avoid any future headaches. So yes, replace the stock turbos with stock turbos.

Yeah, either rebuild the turbos you have now (if they're even rebuildable ) or get a set of remans. The factory compound turbos was one of the good things about the 6.4, why replace them with a single.

I agree with the crew. Can you get away with a cartridge kit or are they that beat up? I know you can spin wrenches, that's why I ask.

High pressure bent the shaft and locked the cartridge ( fun times) and after further examination the low pressure turbo is about to go out the door as well a ton of oil seepage through the seal and into the intake. So all in all it would be both center cartridges. I was just wondering since I’ve seen the kits to convert it to a single turbo and was trying to way out options and see if it was better or worse than the stock configuration.

Thanks guys for the insight. After serious consideration I’ve decided to just replace with stock turbos. Figured that would be the easiest instead of reworking the setup to run a single turbo then having to retune the truck so it’s not continuing to try and run VGT turbos. I played with the idea and in the end decided if it ain’t broke and working good don’t try and improve it

It might be worth a look to get a set of blowers from a rolled truck. JS
