hello everyone,
as show in the title, i'm looking for a way to protect my bed (f250 1977) from any scratch or things like that. what would you recommend ?
bed floor cover, wood , anything else ...?
A drop in bed liner (over or under the rail), yes are tough, but can be a moisture trap and cause rust. Are you going to use the truck to haul something one in a while and want to protect it every do often? Then put a piece of plywood in there for short term protection, install, haul what ever, remove.
Not sure if you can get a Penda liner in France anyway, but I bet you can get a Raptor, Herculiner, Durabak, Duplicolor Bed Armor...or any other number of DIY bed liner kits. The key is in the prep. Now it you have a Rhino Liner or Line-X company across the pond, way to go for a long lasting permanent job.
unless your pickup is a beater I wouldn't do a spray in. huge resale killer I learned that the hard way, higher end buyers would rather see a thrashed bed interior than a spray in liner.
I'm going to try to strip the spray in out of one of my rigs this winter and I'm dreading it.
A full molded plastic bed liner still exist for f250 1977 ?
I'm glad you asked. I'm gonna get the under the lip one here soon to replace my 36 year old one that is showing it's age. I just looked it up a few days ago. Under the lip models do not require top of rail clamps, etc. I have used rail top protection in the form of stuck on ribbed molded thick vynil, it too is still available but I may reuse mine with new adhesive. No matter what, you should allow for drainage in the steel, especially corners.
Penda liner

It's the over rail version, they used to use hold downs that anchored in the top rail stake pockets. They work, but if not padded might scuff the paint where the over lip contacts the bed top?
Spray in or brush on liner all the way. Around here, with the way they salt/sand the roads in winter, the plastic liners and bed mats just trap sand, salt and moisture and rot the beds out from the inside. With the spray/brush on, there's no yearly maintenance of having to remove the liner to flush out the bed. Also, in my experience, when they're applied correctly the spray on/brush on liners stand up to much more abuse. When they aren't applied correctly they peel like a banana.
I suppose in salt areas that makes sense. but around here I've pulled bedliners out after 25 years and other than worn paint it looks like new.
I would think if you drive a classic in the salt enough to rot out under a bedliner it's not a very important vehicle to you. so why worry about the bed at all just drive it .
