I'm planning on redoing the plug wires on my truck. My flathead has the factory plug wire brackets, but they are missing the rubber grommets. Does someone carry those? My google searches have failed me. I did find them for a 8N tractor: Ford Spark Plug Wire Grommet Would that be the same part?
Also, I had to remove the coil while doing some other work. I tried to look up the part using what little information was printed on it, and haven't been able to find the exact part. I don't really need to replace it now, but I am curious. What's a good recommended coil for a flathead v8 converted to 12v?
The Bosch blue coil #00012 is a 3.0 ohm coil and doesn't need a resistor, unfortunately it was spec'd for lots of high end Porsche / BMW vehicles as well as air-cooled VW's, so they are pricey. But they are high quality. Look for the ones coming out of Brazil. (Really) Rock Auto is a good source.
I have had good luck with NAPA's Echlin line, but it takes some fishing to find a coil and ballast combination, or an internally-ballasted coil.
