I'm not disagreeing with you about the tube I belive you. I'm going to get the nut re threaded first to see if I can get the new egr to thread onto the nut. I'm going 2 try that before changing the tube.

Ya I seen that too but I don't see any ports coming out of the tube. It looks like it bends down and goes into the exhaust coming out of the bottom of the motor. And one the other side I can see a o2 sensor. Hopefully I can get the nut re threaded and I don't have mess with the tube at all.
Is that what that is a DPFE sensor? I have been looking at them and I can't find any that are aluminum and they all have both hose connections on the front. The one on the truck is aluminum and has one hose connector on the front and one on the back.
can your old EGR valve go back on still? Maybe it needs cleaning, and then make sure the rest of the system components are working first. This my 96 4.9, I know its a mess, but my DPFE sensor has 2 hoses im pretty sure too. Also, your egr valve, the solenoid or whatever below it that is vacuum tubed to it, then the systems vacuum lines overall should be replaced since yours look worse than mine and mine literally snap if you touch them. lol. also your valve cover looks EXTREMELY rusted
I would replace your valve cover out of fear of what it looks like on the inside.
I watched a video similar to that yesterday were I put my finger over the hole and it ran just like your video so I'm thinking its not the egr valve now. I don't have scanner stuff to do other tests. I'm going to try the new dpfe sensor I ordered one it was like 35 bucks and the part # matched up 2 the one on the truck. So I'm going to try that before I take it to pay a shop rate to re thread the nut.

ya it does look a bit rusty eh. I will maybe look into that. I would think that the inside of it wouldn't be rusty tho.

I just watched a video on changing the value cover and there's no way I could do that. It's a big job. I'm not anywhere close to being a mechanic. Maybe if I come into some money sometime I will get it done
