Installed today and the originals are so much better but I don't have keys. The replacements are sloppy and the passenger one already failed. It has about 1/3 of a key turn now with zero movement. These are the Daniel Carpenter units which were supposed to be decent. I hit them with WD40 as suggested. Looks like I'm buying a new set looking for a decent source. Can't find NOS on Evil Bay unfortunately..
Anything by Dennis Carpenter was once nearly guaranteed to be quality. That was then, this is now.
It’s a crapshoot I am not willing to take, so if NOS is available, I’ll pay the premium. I’ve only ever had regrets when I bought aftermarket, never with genuine Ford.
I've did this on two different trucks. There is a number on the original lock cylinder. If you take them to a lock smith, he can use that number to make keys for them. Find an old guy if you can he will be more likely to have blanks for them.
