Should I Fix Or Sell
So i purchased my 2004 F150 Lariat 200K Miles about 4 months ago for 5K and I've put another $700 into it.
Interior/Leather in great shape, exterior minor scrapes and 2 small dents.
Really bad buy.
1) Didn't do my homework
2) Seller was a real conman
Anyway, it still needs:
- Needs Cats
- Has Vacuum Leak Code
- Runs Lean Code (Replaced all 4 O2 Sensors and MAF sensor)
- Has Timing Error Code (Replaced Cam sensors, VCT Solenoids)
- Has a knock from 1st to 2nd gear
I have a solid offer for $3500. Should i call it quits and sell or spend more money fixing it?
What's the clever move here.
Thanks
I ask because a $5,000 truck is going to need work. To sell it for $3,500 and buy another vehicle in the same $5,000 price range will most likely get you another vehicle needing immediate repairs.
Thanks
If a truck is needed I cant quite give you an answer on what id do in your situation without personally inspecting your truck. At least in my market any 1/2 ton or larger pickup in the 5k-6k range is going to have a list of things (not far off from yours) needing repair immediately. One of those situations where youre going to be repairing a truck no matter what so you just have to settle on one and start dumping money into it.
Hope this helps.
