I was going to go with the Torklift receiver, but I use a Thule T2 platform bike rack. Figured they would be too high with the Torklift receiver, so I went with the Drawtite. Lower than the Torklift and higher than the Curt option. May want to figure out bike rack first and then get hitch, or vice versa. Just my 2 cents. Torklift Curt Drawtite
I too use the front mounted hitch, for tons of use. In the fall during deer season I install my luggage carrier for the deer because I sleep in the bed under my topper.
I am amazed these things are even legal with all the safety ****'s running around these days. Blocking your vehicles lights and license plates used to be an actual offense. Since it is bicycles usually, it is OK? We get thousands of visitors with racks like this on vehicles in the summer. Almost always the most dangerous drivers on the road. Pleas do not block your vehicles signal lights...

I was a little concerned about blocking my headlights too. Our bikes are e-bikes and overall the frames are made thicker and the fat tires on mine seem like they might affect my light projection if driving at night. Still something to think about. I might use some blocks to try and position the bike rack at the height of the Tork hitch and see how much is affected. I'm not worried about the plate - DE doesn't have them in front.
I bought/installed the Torklift Ecohitch because of its superior weight carrying capability. I wanted to be able to use it to maneuver our camper if needed. I tried the girlfriend's Thule bike carrier and, with our bikes on mounted, it was way too high and blocked my vision. So I fabricated a dropped receiver adapter to use when hauling the bikes, or anything else that's tall. It lowers the receiver down to the air dam area (app 6") and only moved it about 4-5" forward. I also had an older Rhodes Gear carrier that I modded to lower the bikes 3". This combo works well. To lessen the light blockage, and because they're easily stolen, we remove the front wheels (and seats) off of both bikes while carrying them.
