On my 2017 F350 (XLT), the screen went blank when I started the truck (ironically, while leaving the Ford dealer for parts for my '95). This has happened in the past and has come back to life after stopping and cycling the key. As I was crunched for time, I drove about 30 minutes with no screen, then stopped, expecting the screen to wake back up when I started again. However, it did not wake up. I have since checked the fuses, tried soft resets, and done overnight battery disconnects, still no signs of life. It has been a week and a half now.
Yesterday I pulled the APIM and checked resistance on the unit between pins 8 (+12v) and pins 37/38 (grounds), the result was open loop on one of the ground pins, I should have wrote what I found on the other, because now I dont remember. I am not sure which ground pin I should be checking, either.
On the harness side, I found 14.5v (with the key on) between pin 8 and one of the grounds (37/38), and nothing on the other ground.
In my limited understanding of electronics, I believe I have a bad unit on my hands and it is not a power issue. Does anyone have any guidance on a proper procedure to check the unit or vehicle in this scenario?
