Turbo Noise on deceleration/engine braking

I was towing my RV over a mountain pass today and it was fine going up, but when I was coming back down, downshifting/engine braking, I would hear this very weird sound possibly coming from the turbo. It sounded like an air pressure gun under the hood. It would only make the noise at higher RPM's like above 3000 or so, and if I put my foot on the gas it would immediately stop, take your foot off the gas pedal and it comes back. It would also stop for a second and come back for several seconds. Prior to this I was having the problem where VGT vanes were sticking and throwing a P132B code. I installed a new VGT actuator and that fixed that problem, I haven't towed in a really long time since well before having the VGT problem. I am not getting any codes currently, nothing stored, pending etc, DTC's are totally clean.

Even though I installed the new actuator, could this be another VGT issue? This is the stock turbo that came in the 2011-2014 models, I know its basically a piece of **** anyway and I should install the retrofit 2015+ kit and turbo. I just want to make sure this new issue is definitely the turbo and not something else.

It is the engine brake doing its thing and is normal.

You can activate it using the tow/haul button or the engine brake button on the dash.

I should tend to work anytime it is activated. Turn the radio off and try it when traveling down the road and a stop light is ahead. Use it and just take your foot off the go pedal.

Nope its not normal. Trust me, had this truck since it was brand spankin new, towed 10's of thousands of miles with it. 2011-2014's do not have the exhaust brake installed on them. Does the same thing whether in tow/haul mode or not. Thanks for the reply but honestly I've seen this non-sense all over these forums... The sound I am hearing is NOT normal. I honestly think the turbo is on its way out.

I also noticed yesterday that it was doing when cold on acceleration, for a very brief moment.

It would help if you posted the details on your truck so we know what we're working with, and create a signature with those details.

2014 F-250 6.7 Powerstroke - all stock except for emissions deletes and a 4 inch lift. So the turbo is the older style SST turbo with the two inlets.
