So, I'm organizing my shop and found these mirror arms. I don't know where I got them. The connector ends look slightly different and they are a little different lengths and not adjustible.
Can anyone give any details?
On a side mirror note. My daughter was cleaning her car last night and found my west coast junior mirrors in the trunk. I was looking for them recently and had thought I foolishly threw them out. I bet they have been in her trunk for 2-3 years. I put them in there when I went to my parents a long time ago. Dang! But, I'm thinking about going back to these mirrors for better visibility. Anyone have a source for rectangle mirrors with the mounting bolt on the back center?
Since the arms are non adjustable, they are from 57 to 60. 53-56 truck mirrors arms were adjustable with a shiney top part that slid in or out to adjust the length. The clamping hardware is the same, 53-60. The bottom arm looks like it was made with a piece of galvanized pipe.

edit note: the bracket shown that bolts into th door is for a 56 and up truck. The 53-55 brackets have two holes in a straight line configuration.
And you'd think these parts and a non adjustable arm could easily be made.

Thanks for the info. It makes sense that someone could easily make a replacement arm of this type. That is most likely what someone did.
Here is what the door bracket looked like on the 53-55 trucks. This is the original arm from the passenger side from my 54. I always thought Grandpa or Garman's Garage, which was his in-laws made these arms. You can see it is bent. I don't know if he hit a fence post or the side of a barn or if it was bent on purpose to provide better visibility.
I have always replaced my mirror heads through Vehicle Safety Supply. They have hundreds of replacement heads at a reasonable price. Vehicle Safety Mirrors - Vehicle Safety Supply

Joe, the story of your mirrors and arms in your daughter's car cracks me up! We only have one son, but I've seen my niece's bedroom. I couldn't tell the color of her carpet. It was covered with clothing's, shoes, etc. And you can't see the floor mats in her car due to school books, soda cups, coffee cups, food wrappers, etc! Hopefully your daughter's car isn't as bad but I think it's a typical girl thing not to know what's in their trunk.

Here room is just like this. Trash, food, clothes. We begin to wonder if she enjoys us getting on to her to clean up her room. She is doing virtual learning this year, which exacerbates the problem. Next year, her senior year, she will be in seat and hopefully that will help a little.
Joe, You mentioned at Branson that you wanted to install better mirrors on your truck. I have these that a friend gave me for my truck. I would have used them, but they didn't stick out far enough to see passed the bed with my narrow cab. They are Ford mirrors. I believe that they are from a late 60s to early 70s bumpside. I did remove a pair of the straps to bolt the mirror head to the arms. PM me if you are interested. You can have them for the shipping cost.
The mirrors arrived today. I had to run out, unpack them, and do a quick test fit. I think they will work well. I might have to tweak them just a tiny bit to fit up.
So, any special screws I should use to fasten them to the door? I'm hoping I can tweak them enough to use one of the existing holes from my old mirrors, we will see.
