The only time you will hear pining or spark knock is when driving and the motor is under load.
Most of the time it is low RPM and a load like going up a steep hill but if really bad can happen going down the high way under a light load.
What I hear sounds like a EXH. leak at idle.
What did you set the timing to and was the vacuum hose off and plugged?
What was the idle RPM when you did it?
