I recently got a 64 F100 292 with automatic that has been sitting since 2003, was told it drove to where it was parked due to master cylinder going out on the brakes. I'm trying to get it running again. It currently does not have spark at the new plugs, I I have tried using the plug off the coil and it still doesn't get spark at the plug. I have tried putting the spark plug body directly on the negative side of the battery with it hooked up and cranked it and still haven't seen spark there from the distributor or from the coil . I have replaced the coil with a new one. It has 12 volts to the coil with the key on and it drops to 10 volts when it's cranking. I have tried running a wire from the battery to the positive side of the coil with no change in results. When I crank it with the distributor cap off I can see the Sparks at the point. I have cleaned the rotor and the cap is brand-new from when it was Parked and still looks it on the inside, the wires look good. I've set the ponts Gap at 0.17. Any idea what I should look at next?
Get a point file or fine sand paper folded in half and run it through the points when closed.
Then run paper towel or napkin through them and see of you get spark out of the coil.
Spark goes from coil to dist..
Another check is put a test light, non-LED bulb, on the NEG side of the coil with the points all cleaned as above and when cranking the test light should blink.
If it is not blinking the points are not grounding out to short the coil to make it spark.
Is there a ground wire in the dist. from the points plate to the dist. body?
The only other thing I can think it may be is the condenser could be bad.
Pretty easy system to figure out no spark on.

Thank you for the information Dave. I had a friend come out and help me, soon as he checked for spark the same way I had it, it had spark. No clue what the problem was, but we managed to get it running after spraying some fuel down the carb and hooked up a new fuel pump.
Next up will to go through the brakes and flush the coolent and trans fluid then see if it drives!
