I changed out my power steering reservoir seal just now and I decided to go ahead and change the o-rings on the outlet fitting. What is the torque spec for this outlet fitting? Kind of an oddball in my computer is being really slow right now so I can't get on the service manual!
No, but it's okay. I put it a little past good and tight and everything is good. I had to reseal my power steering pump itself. The reservoir was leaking. You have to take the pressure line off the side of the pump and then take the fitting out of the pump to change out the seal in the reservoir. The main fitting itself that you pull out of the side of the that the pressure line threads into, is what I was talking about. I went ahead and changed those seals as well! Thank you! I appreciate you!
I think that would hurt the o-rings a little bit but other than that it sounds like solid advice then I will definitely hold on to until next time!
Well if you’re going to use that one… may as well keep this other nugget in your hip pocket.
Cross threading a bolt can work as a substitute for locktite.
I know YOU know I’m kidding. But for future readers, do not take my advice. It’s all in jest.

I have used that particular nugget before! Unfortunately, I couldn't handle it. After doing it, I later had to pull everything back off and run a tap through the hole to fix it. It just drove me nuts! This doesn't change the value of the advice though!
I know this is completely off topic but, how do you go about painting an alternator? Are they difficult to disassemble? When I'm doing my hpop stage 1 or 2 swap (undecided) there are quite a few things I want to paint.

In the spirit of @RacinJasonWV ’s advice, powder coat the alternator, short the output to ground then start the engine to get the alternator hot enough to cure the powder coat.

Never tried it myself. Just haven’t caught that old paint addiction.
I assume you would just prep the body then tape over the holes and connections. The pulley should come off to make things easier. But let the experts give you actual experienced advice.

who knew it was so easy!? I guess I'm off to buy a powder coating machine! 🤣

Then replace the guts of your newly powder coated alternator body? What could be easier?
I rarely use a torque wrench. I would on injector hold-down bolts, bolts inside engines and gear boxes, the HPOP hose fittings and a couple of other places. Otherwise I just use the gut-n-tite method and haven't had any problems. In my younger years, I might have broken a bolt or two 'til I figured it out.
