Question Tire question

Over the course of owning my truck (almost 2 years), I have noticed a minor problem on my truck. When backing out (i.e. of a parking space) with my wheel turned all the way left or right, it seems my front axle will bind as if it gets stuck. It will only stick for a second, then lurch and then move freely. I always wondered if this was something wrong with my steering linkage or something to that effect. I got an alignment thinking that may help or that they will notice something out of place. Not the case. Anyway, one thing I did figure out was that my tires may be the culprit. I don't remember the exact code, but the width is 275. Is that a standard tire width for these trucks?? And could this be contributing to the "binding" effect? More curious than concerned about it. Thanks for any input.

It is most likely the tire rubbing the radius arm that you are feeling. It would help if you posted what size tire you are running and if you had any lift on the Bronco. I rub my radius arms at full lock with a 6 inch lift and 35x12.50x15. You may just have to adjust your driving/parking style, at least that's what I did.

No lift. I don't really know what size they are. Nothing huge, I would assume close to stock. I will grab the code off the tires at lunch and let you know.

OK, tires are P265/75R15. I was mistaken in my original sizing. Out at lunch my tailgate window stopped working, lucky me. Now i got to search on how to fix that. Luckily that seems to be pretty common so I should be able to diagnose.

There is no way those tires are rubing, unless some sort of weird thing like a backwards radius arm was mounted, but don't even look for that, not a possiblity. Do u have manual hubs, or auto? Almost sounds like your front axel is ingaged all the time.

I got the auto hubs in there. I have not swapped the manuals in there yet even though everyone here stresses that. I thought a sign that your autos were failing was a clicking noise coming from your wheels?

Start checking the auto hubs for failure. Heck just replace them with any type of manual hub, you will be much happier.
