1967 F250 decode

Hello, I am new to this thread and I was wondering if anyone could decode this for me. I have always wondered what this truck was born with when it was new. The engine that is currently in it is a 1970 Ford 427 out of a Ford thunderbird.

Welcome to FTE!

I am moving you to the correct forum for your 1967 F250.

F25 = F250 4x2

Y = 352 2V FE gas V8

C = Ontario Truck Plant

A56331 = 1967 numerical series (produced Dec 1966) (these numbers also appear for 1976. Your color and model code/GVWR indicate 1967)

131 = 131 inch wheelbase

7 = Dark Blue (EDIT see post 3)

F253 = F250 4x2, 6000 lbs GVWR, "Except state of PA". (The 6000 lb GVWR appears only for model year 1967)

F81 = I do not have the upholstery and seat info. Possibly a black vinyl interior, standard cab. (EDIT see post 3)

C = Ford 3 speed manul transmission. (should be all synchro, "3.03" model with a tin top cover)

25 = Dana 60, 5,200 lbs capacity, 4.56 ratio

No front axle code--only optional axles were listed in '64 to '69. Standard axle would be Ford, approx. 3500 lbs capacity, no power steering.

6000 = 6,000 lbs GVWR

172 4000 = 172 certified net HP @ 4000 RPM

24 = Jacksonville District Code

As to the current engine being a 427 from a '70 T-bird--sorry, can't be. No 427s in anything in '70, maybe you could have gotten one in a T-bird in the mid '60s.

A '70 T-bird would have had a 429, which is a different engine family than the OEM 360. Do you have an automatic transmission now also?

A 429 will have 7 bolts holding the valve covers on. An FE will have 5 and the intake will extend under the valve covers.

Let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to post pictures, people like pictures!

F81 is Ranger trim with a vinyl bench seat - Medium blue Barcelona vinyl and dark blue crinkle vinyl

Also 7 is Harbor Blue which is more of a medium blue which it looks like it is under the grime. It sounds like a great truck!

My Mistake I quite often get the 2 engines (427, 429) confused, it is a 1970 429 engine from a thunderbird. And as for the transmission there isn't a hole cut in the floor for a manual transmission so it may have been patched 🤷. The current transmission that's in it though is a ford C6. For the interior is a mixture of faded blue so I'm pretty sure its the original interior, overall its a pretty sold truck the only rust it has is the floor pans other than that its a solid truck. I think the reason why its so solid is because its lived in Oklahoma for almost all of its life

Wow that's some fading from the original Harbor blue. Are you able to look somewhere hidden for the color? Is it that light of a blue everywhere the sun don't shine too?
