This is out of curiosity bc I’m done putting money into this truck. About 30k mikes ago I had an all forged block built and whippled it with an 8 but really 6lb kit. Not sure why they dont call it a 6. Front and rear complete rebuild with 4:56 gears and a bullet proof transmission I rebuilt. All of this was done at about the same time bc I loved my truck. I’ve had it since 2008 and wanted it last a lot longer. Well it has never ran right since the rebuild and about as dependable and trustworthy of my ex old lady. I think some of it being my part bc I should’ve bought new heads and cams and didn’t. But anyways it pings and everyone says the tune looks good so I don’t know and tired of messing with it. Don’t feel like pulling motor to do heads or working on it period anymore so new f350 here I come.
so the other day I’m driving on the highway and all of a sudden my exhaust completely changed note. I know what my truck sounds like and I’ve had the exhaust it has for 8 years. It last for a very short time maybe 10 seconds and changes back to what it normally sounds like. I thought I was hearing things until it happened again a week later and then a few days after that. This has stumped me bc it doesn’t run any different, there’s are no misfires and I’ve never heard of anything like it happening. The only think I can think of is i think I have a lash adjuster sticking bc it sounds like I have a really bad exhaust leak for anywhere from a couple seconds second up to 5 or more minutes and wondering if a valve could be staying open a hair for a little bit causing the sound to change. I know that’s probably far fetched but it’s the i my thing I can think of.
anyone ever heard of anything like this happening?
im not looking for a fix bc my mind is made up on getting another truck but I’m very curious what you guys think?

You will have a very expensive, yard ornament, tried data logging, tune cant be good if its had issues from day one, how big injectors did you go to, what are you tuning it with.
heres the thing, i brought it to a place close to me in orange texas, triangled speed shop, and they are the ones that told me the tune looked fine but if i wanted more power we could put a smaller pulley on. well theres no way i was doing that and they are suppose to be ford gurus. its always pinged and i was thinking timing so i ran some 105 or 110 octane or maybe it was called sunoco110 but it was over 100 and it pinged just as bad so i thought it could be not enough gas but i got tired if fooling with it. it has wide bands on each side right before front o2's and it looks okay. i use forscan also. honestly i think ima trade it in for probably nothing. i could probably get more if i sold it in parts but no desire to put another wrench on it.
