Progress. No need to rush into anything you know! I notched the frame by the pattern that I've used several times and set the Volare ifs in place, about 22 years ago. Then yesterday a good friend that is a better welder than I welded it in and tacked the boxing plates on. I will finish attaching the plates this week. Then the complete ifs will get disassembled for cleaning, paint, and all new rebuild parts.
It would not normally take 22 years to finish the install but this is the '56 Panel that I sold just after putting the suspension in place then bought it back 17+ years later, untouched except the buyer lost one front fender and a 429 Ford block & crank.
That's ok though, I sold all the other 429 stuff to someone else and got a some money back from it.
I will post some progress pics soon.
I look forward to more details and Pics. What are you planning to use as engine and Trans now? Did you also change the rear end?
The 500 Cadillac and 400 TH trans that used to be in my '56 pick-up will go in it. As will the Chrysler 8 3/4" rear axle including the leaf springs. The rear was geared 2.76, the highest one available for the 8 3/4 rear and it worked great.
