Oh! The Pain...

Just filled my truck up with fuel for my run this weekend, 86 gallons @ $5.059 per gallon...

Well, not quite as painful as that, with my Fuel card discount it ended up being $326.40 at $3.795 per gallon, still just crazy!

That discount is more than we've ever gotten before at $1.264 per gallon, our discounts used to run around 40-50 cents per gallon when fuel was around $3 or so.

No, card issue by the company i work with.
AFAIK, the discount isn't near as much on those TSD issued cards, plus their fees which we don't have.

I was paying 6.50ish in CA last week. Pretty ugly. Curious about any discount cards or programs folks are using. It looks like these prices will be with us for a while.

Also curious about any recommended discount cards... Seeing the discounts increase by this much does tell me it's the actual retailer that is holding the gas prices higher and not the actual price of oil. not trying to start a political thread just stating there is room for consumers to save...

a barrel of oil dropped to at or near pre invasion levels earlier this week. The prices at stations haven't followed it down.

I have noticed some stations move with barrel pricing, others hold steady for longer. For example, one of the highest priced stations locally for diesel was up to $7.09, but gradually lowered pricing as price per barrel dropped. They were at $6.09 last I looked. Other stations haven't changed pricing for a couple weeks now.

One excuse for the delay that I have heard is that we are still paying pump prices based on oil that was purchased at a higher price. Supposedly price at the pump has some delay in relation to barrel price.

Was 6.99 for diesel out on I-5. That would've been $601.

The curious thing is the price always goes up right away, but comes down gradually. If it was the "already bought the fuel at previous prices", it wouldn't go up right away. I'm a free market guy, supply and demand guy. However, there is a mountain of stuff in the way of that with oil.

I just have the typical grocery store discount card. What programs are the rest of you using and how do you get it?

that's what I use. I usually get about 50 cents off a gallon on average. Sometimes as high as a buck a gallon. Sometimes only a few cents.
