2003 tune up

My 2003 F150 is approaching 100,000 miles. Runs great, has the 5.4 in it. Thinking about getting the old girl a tune up. New plugs, wires, fuel filter, change transmission fluid, new belt, change antifreeze. What else? I plan on keeping her and getting another 100,000. Any thought's ? Thanks !

Check the owner's manual for stuff to do at 100,000. i am thinking the PCV valve is due to be replaced. Air filter if it hasn't been done recently. If your going to do the coolant, check your hoses and maybe the water pump and thermostat. but those are optional.

I have an 03 with 115k miles, purchased it new in 2002. Mine's going in for some work as I sprung a leak under the hood. I'm also due for new tires, rotors and pads.

Excellent point, if OP wants to be proactive just do the intake manifold replacement before it starts leaking coolant.

Not sure it is in the owners manual any more but ford (used to) would replace your PCV valve for free at 100 k miles if you ask them to

My leak was due to the power steering tube rusting out. It's all fixed as of this morning.

I like to clean the mass air flow sensor every once and a while with the appropriate cleaner. Also check the throttle body for cleanliness but if you do need to clean it do your research on the protective coating, I just use a dry shop towel and be gentile.

Thumbs up

Idler pulley, tensioner, and verify the fan clutch still works well. Maybe voltage regulator brushes, they run about $6.

I am not a fan of 20 year old plastic end tank radiators, I would swap if in budget. The dual row one from an Expedition drops in and is what is in my '01 Screw.

I was able to use a pair of Vice Grips to crimp my radiator back together on my 2000 F-150. It hasn't leaked in the years since.

If I could find one of these trucks with low miles I'd go get a loan and buy it! 300,000+ miles on mine.

One of my trucks will not run on Ford plugs but love the G force plugs and I get 100,000 miles out of them. Use Ford coils and I know they are not cheap, but well worth the time and money for them.
