A freshen up of the heads wouldn't hurt (new valves, new valve seats, ported head, but I have no clue what mods are needed to make 500hp on these engines either so theres that.
I haven’t seen you around much lately. Glad to see you still have the truck. If you have the time and $$ and are looking at the 500hp target, I would give some thought to upgrading the 38r. There have been some pretty strong updates since that turbo was really popular. If not, enjoy it as is and let us know how you like the 238s

this! If it’s in the budget, a t4 kit with a borg warner sxe turbo sized appropriate to your needs seems like it would be hard to beat.
I have my 2001 7.3 apart right now and am putting a stage 2 kc turbo in it with the same injectors you bought. I doubt I will be near 500 hp though as my tuning will be more conservative as I have PMR’s. Depending on your primary uses and gears/tire size you could use a stage 2 or 3. Stage 3 would get you to 500 easier I would imagine.

after speaking with the injector builder and the tuner, 500 is going to be reached with the 38r. I plan on keeping it as I really enjoy it.
