Perimeter Plus Security System

Have had my truck for 3 weeks now. I like most of the truck with a few exceptions. My biggest issue right now is the alarm system. I have a dog that goes with me everywhere and if she moves after I lock the truck the alarm goes off. I have gone into the settings and changed it to perimeter only. But the system keeps resetting to “All Alarms”. So I set it to Ask on Exit but that is a pain and I forget sometimes to answer the reminder. Has anyone else had an issue with it resetting? Can I shut it off with Forscan?

I would imagine it could be turned off in forscan look at the 2021 F150 BCM codes should be there.

You can select in the dashboard menus to select only the exterior sensors. I forget where is is - might by in vehicle settings - but I know.

Had the same problem - had to make sure I changed it when I shut off the truck. I never did set the setting - but I know it is in there....keep looking..

I believe he said he does that now but forgets sometimes?

I have reset dashboard menus several times but it keeps resetting. I don’t know about the reset until the dog moves and sets off the alarm.

Looks like there's an "ask on exit" option in the settings, so you can hit the perimeter only tab instead of scrolling thru the menu every time you get out of the truck
It goes back to default after it's been cycled unfortunately
I don't have my truck yet, just going off a search on this topic since mine is equipped with this also, YMMV

He said that he sometimes forgets to set it to perimeter only when it asks on exit. That's why he's looking for a way to set it to perimeter only and have it stay that way.

There is. But I don’t always look at my screen as I am getting out of my truck. Like most people I turn truck off and jump out.

A guy in this thread says he disconnected the sensors in the overhead console.... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...eter-only.html

That would work, or put tape over the sensors. The problem with tape is if it fell off the alarm would go off.

That was what I was looking for. Ford is just stupid, They put it in owners manual that if you travel with you dog or cat make sure you turn off the interior sensors but they don’t tell you, you have to do it every time you get out of the truck. Sounds like it has been issue since May 2018. Might pull down overhead and disconnect the 4 sensors. Definitely not putting tape on a $70 thousand dollar truck.

ok looking at forscan and stuff, you cant disable this with forscan. either tape over the sensors or unplug them. those are your options.

There are two ways to disable the interior motion sensor, IIRC.

1) You can have both and it will ask on exit - but you have to remember to select "perimeter only" before the screen goes black
2) You can disable the interior sensor permanently by selecting perimeter only from the settings / alarm menu. then it will only do perimeter and will not ask you anymore.

I travel with a dog and have it ask me on exit. 90% of the time I remember.....lol and only half the time I forget does my dog light it off.

I will double check when I get a chance...

It is not outlined well in the manual.

Just to be clear, this is not Perimeter Plus Security System (also known as VSS - https://accessories.ford.com/product...rity-system-20 ) as the thread title would suggest. This is the standard vehicle security system.
