So, my neighbor recently passed away, leaving behind all kinds of construction equipment including his old Ford F600 dump truck. His son told me that he didn't have a title for it, and if I wanted it that I could have it. According to the grille, it looks to be made between 67 and 72. I've only looked at it for about 15 minutes, but I got some notes. First of all, the windshield is cracked badly by a tree branch that fell on it. I was wondering if the windshield from an F100 would fit it. Also does anyone know where I could get parts for it?
The windshield should be the same. Hood is the same, but the hinges bolt to the cab rather than the inter fenders.
Beyond that, they are probably somewhat hard to find parts for. Their fenders are coveted by those with duallys who want to install a standard bed, as two sets of front fenders can be used to make flared fenders on a bed, so if you wanted to part it out those have some value. The cab can be used on smaller trucks with effort, as the cab mounts and firewall are different. Floor may be different too, I'm not sure.
Brakes are always an issue on those, and drums are all but impossible to find. The good news is the drums are pretty durable. Widowmaker wheels are another item to beware of.
Lots of old F600s in the Large Truck forum, let me know and I'll tow you there if you end up with it.
As to parts, a lot of stuff is available through NAPA and other auto stores. Depends on what you need......
Thanks for the responses guys! Another question... the gas cap was gone, which obviously means the gas tank will be rusted. I've done some research, and can't seem to find a gas tank that specifically says it's made for this model. Would the tank from an f100 from the 1967-72 time zone fit it or would it be too small? Does anybody know what kind of tank would fit it that I could find more readily available?
