1963 custom grill

I want a custom grill for my '63 f100 but since no one offers aftermarket ones for these trucks and it is a little more difficult to fabricate (the headlighs are integeral) I was wondering if any one could tell me how to properly make one? I want to have several horazontal bars across it and retain the stock turn signals, I also want to paint not crome it if that makes a diiference.

Thanx JJ

Once you remove the grille, see where you can weld in some vertical support bars. I would use 1/2 or 3/4 mild steel square tubing. Decide how 'flush' you want the grille to be in the front, and weld in the verticals 3/4 back (if using 3/4 steel) from that point, then weld in the horizontals to there, spacing them as you desire. The better thing to do would be to just bolt the vertical supports in (make some kind of flange), and weld the horizontal bars to it, so it can all be removed. You can chrome the whole thing after as well, using this technique. Maybe you can leave the parts to house the headlights? I am not too familiar with the 60's trucks, so I don't know how it all goes together. Obviously, you are going custom, so just think about what it should look like in the end, and what functions need to remain (i.e. holding headlights in)
