I have a 66 P-100 with a 170, 3 on the tree. My ring gear is getting pretty well worn, causing starting problems. I'm getting tired of turning the engine with the fan to find some good teeth, thought about putting a hole thru the radiator, but first I'd like to find a new flywheel. I can find ring gears for this, but the complete flywheels aren't listed for the P-100. Does anyone know what other Ford used this flywheel? If I go the ring gear route how much grief am I asking for? I've done just about everything else mechanically, but never replaced just a ring gear.
Any advice is appreciated, short of pick up the radiator cap and drive a new van under it! Thanks.
Thanks for the replies. I guess I need to do some exploratory surgery to see what I have, I agree that it wouldn't make sense that it would be a one application flywheel,. Unfortunately the P series isn't exactly common.
