I'm sure someone will point you where this has been answered before, I did some searches and didnt find anything but highly likely my keyword usage sucked.
Truck has around 1k on it now, drove a couple hundred miles today to get icecream and because why not. My wife was playing around with the Nav and it was very hot. The external temp was in the 50s, inside truck probably mid to high 60s.
We switched to night mode and turned off whatever that 3d building view option is and it didnt cool down, found out we can't adjust the brightness so maybe need a software update. Anyone else encounter this?
I have a 22 XLT with the 8” screen and noticed the screen was hot too one day. I first noticed it about 3 hours into a drive so thought maybe because it had been running constantly that it was hot. Typically my drives are only a few minutes so I never noticed it. And it seemed that the closer I got to the top of the screen the hotter it got. And not just warm, but hot to the touch. And for what it’s worth, the sun wasn’t shining down onto the dash, although we did have a little heat turned on, coming from the defrost, the vents and at the feet, but it wasn’t turned super hot either… it was turned right in the middle where the cool meets the heat, and the fan was on low. My phone was plugged into the port in the bottom of the center dash and I was also using CarPlay, with Google Maps running and streaming from Apple Music. On the return trip it also got hot like this. This is the first post I have seen about others having this issue though.
I haven't noticed any warming on my '22 12" screen. I do have a screen protector film on it, but that shouldn't be enough to insulate a hot screen from my fingers.
I noticed the other day that there are cooling slots built into the backside of the tray on the dash above the screen that, I'm guessing are there to provide some circulation for the backside of the 12" screen in my 22 Lariat. I didn't see the slots until I looked through the windshield at the dash. I did not have those cooling slots on my 2018 F-150 that had the 8" screen. I don't recall ever feeling the 8" screen being extremely hot though.
