And it is not even 20 years old yet
I'm impressed
Inner panel protection (they called it) was part of the rustproofing that dealers did (undercoat)
So we sprayed waxy stuff inside all the doors and every body hole we could find (pulling out plugs and the like)
Someone missed your latch or the 600 was not spent
It was a spray fog which took time to do it real good
Even if it was rustproof sprayed, it’s a very possible the three rear cargo doors weren’t done because they are fiberglass, so no chance of panels rusting there. Metal internals……………yeah, like shown above.
Hey Guys,
I need a pawl for the rear lift gate. Thought the cylinder I ordered came with one, but it did not, and my OE disintegrated. Problem is all I'm seeing online are the left and right doors, with the cylinder key hole 90 degrees left or right. The rear lift gate appears to be oriented straight down, as shown in this pic.
Does anyone have a PN or link for the correct one?

Scroll back to post #4. I linked a guy who carries brand new assemblies. He offers key matching, and the quality is excellent. I’ve used him on my Excursion, F250, and F350, and wouldn’t hesitate to use him again.

I touched base with Wolf and they don't have the center one for the lift gate. Said they were discontinued.
Anyone know if you can use a left or right pawl and turn the cylinder 90 degrees out?

That’s a serious bummer; their service is excellent otherwise. IIRC the one for the rear hatch has a longer shaft coming off of it. I’m not sure if that would affect operation when using the standard length that’s in a door. I might still have one lying around. I’ll take a peek in my old-parts bin tomorrow.
My 2000's rear key hatch cylinders, plastic connection (21970) is also broken however I have owned my 2005 for close to 15 years now and I can't remember if I have ever used its lock cylinder on the rear hatch. I would like to fix the 2000 so the lock rod is attached properly, thanks for posting this thread!
