When I took delivery of my truck some $500 in price increases were in effect by the time my truck arrived. When I ordered, I put cash down and signed a buyers order that locked in price protection between Ford, the dealer and me.
At delivery the dealer asked me to sign a document that proved to Ford that I was a real customer and had in fact taken delivery of the truck. This allowed the dealer to get a $500 refund from Ford, adjusting the invoiced price to the agreed upon price.
Not everyone had the same experience as me. And this was back in Sept 2021 so things my have changed.
This is a bit of a mess and Ford could have simplified it.
I ordered my '22 on March 23rd last year and I'm picking it up tomorrow. there has been $1784 in price increases since I ordered it.
First my dealer told me the invoice would reflect the price protection and it was all handled. now they tell me I have to pay the new invoice price and Ford will reimburse them for each price increase and they're distribute it to me as they receive it. this is all doable and I don't have any choice in it but what a stupid way to do business. I'll know tomorrow for sure but this is what the dealership owned told me today.

With X-Plan the dealer has the option of mailing a check to the customer or reducing the price
2. If vehicle was ordered prior to the announcement of a price increase, it may be eligible for price protection.
Is vehicle eligible for price protection? YES NO (circle one)
Dealer may mail check to customer or decrease price. If dealer decreases the price, enter here: . . . . . . . . .
Does anyone know what paper work the dealer needs to send to Ford for reimbursement/credit for trucks ordered before the price changes?
Thanks,
Al
As I understand it, the Ford price protection has been around for years. Your dealer should know exactly what paperwork needs to be filed with Ford to get their reimbursement.
If the dealer lowers the price then they have to wait for Ford to reimburse them. or they can have you wait to be reimbursed. which option do you figure most dealers will take ?
It's not a big deal but it's just one more example of how little Ford cares about the customer.

Every time I bought with X-Plan after a price increase the dealer just lowered the price on the contract rather than sending me a check later. It’s easier for the dealer rather than having to cut a check later. I’ve used X-Plan over a dozen times.
i signed the X-Plan agreement and received a copy.
Like I said that's up to the dealer. I'll see when I pick it up but mine has told me I'm doing the waiting.
I don't care as long as I get it back but Ford could just bill the dealer the actual price if they gave a FF and leave them out of the price protection game.
After 50 weeks of Ford lying to me and playing all these stupid games I've lost my sense of humor.
If the dealer doesn't know which paperwork to submit I think you purchased from the wrong dealer!
I think there are many of us who realized we ordered from the wrong dealer only now after waiting six months or a year. I'd be happy to take your advise a year ago though.
As it stands there are dealers who won't file the paperwork because they "don't know how" and its up to the customer to either find out how to do it themselves or wait another six months to a year for a rig.
I had to pay the new invoice price and the dealer will pass the repayment for the price protection on to me when they receive it. they said Ford is really slow getting it to them and they don't plan to carry it on their books.
