I just developed a long crank to start issue. Once the truck fires over it runs fine. The starter spins fast and with authority. Things I've checked so far, GP relay is functioning properly(new White Rodgers), ZD-11 glow plugs are receiving power(only 1 year old) and updated SD single wiring harness plugs are good and not melted. Fuel pressure(efuel) is at 65 psi while cranking and oil level is good. I also had a spare CPS so I swapped that out just in case. No CEL.
I have Autoenginuity but have not had a chance to plug it in yet. When I do, what are numbers/values I should be looking at while cranking to try and find my issue? I don't have a lot of play time with AE so besides reading codes I may need some guidance. Thanks.
You’ll want to check rpm while cranking along with ICP and ipr duty cycle %. That’s all I can think of anyway. How old are the batteries?
I’ll plug it in tomorrow and check those numbers out. The batteries are 1 1/2 years old. What kind of healthy voltage should I be looking for out of them?

Disconnect each, let sit for a while. Then check their voltage. I had one dead around 10.90V and other about 12.50V...that was the reason for my weak starts and cranks. I was always told fully charged is 12.60.
Voltage through AE was showing 12.1 and dropped to 10.2 while cranking. ICP was showing 3521 while cranking. Does EOT have a min temp? It was about 20 degrees outside and EOT input was reading 48.20 before starting.

It was still cranking fast but taking a while to fire over plugged in too. Batt cables are original from what I can tell but visually look okay. I’ll disconnect them and let them sit and see where they’re at by reading at the terminal posts. Does my voltage reading through AE look low? From searching 9ish volts while cranking is low but I’m around 10 volts while cranking?
You can get a cheap harbor freight tester that will do a draw down or take them to your local parts house and they will do it for free. I have had my tester from HF for years and it has worked great. Just a few mo. ago I had a 1 yr old battery that would show 12.3 volts but would drop to 9 under load.
