Hey guys I am going to be installing a dual exhaust on my 86. It has a 460 in it. Currently I am looking at either the 12' dynomax #24215 or the mini #24250 I plan on going with 2.5 inch exhaust so if I do decide to go with the mini I think it wil have to be reduced as the mini is only sold in 3 inch. I think I am going to have the duals come out under the rear bumper in contrast to infront of the tires. My main goal is to get a good sound that is really LOUD. I figure since I get terrible milage I want everyone else to know it too. However, I dont want it to be so loud I get a headache driving it. What is your guys recommendations and is there anything I should consider?
I went with dual magnaflows . Running 2.5"
nice sound, not too terrible at idle but loud enough for me.
it gets really LOUD when you floor it and the secondaries open
kind of fun until you need to fill up again.
I think it's a decent mix between being obnoxious and respectful of others.

I guess you know you can't run the exhaust down the driver's side unless you are outside the frame. There is a gas tank over there in the way. You will have to run them both on the pass side, and then cross back over in the rear. That might affect your muffler selection.
Ohio doesn't have vehicle inspections? I think by 1986 your GVWR would not be enough to bypass the cats.

idk if you directed the ohio question to me or not but..
Yes certain counties have E-check that is it. Im not in any of them and My truck is cat exempt anyway.
So with the tank there it would be harder to run the exhast out in front of the drivers tire? When talking to our local mechanic he told me that it would be harder to run the exhast out the back and therefore more expensive. I would obviously prefer to run it out the back, so if it is harder to run it out in front of the tire that would make me feel better about spending the extra cash for under the bumper.

The only way to run it in front of the tire on the driver's side is to run it under the frame up front and then run it down the outside of the frame. Or get rid of the side tank and run only the rear fuel tank.
