Don't know if Ford was using a nylon teeth cam gear in 82. But, that could be a problem. I know my 86 F250 351W has a double tooth steel gear set, stock.
Is that nylon on the distributor or cam? Either way, that ain’t good.
Cam gear was aluminum with nylon teeth
I'm 2nd owner of my 86 F250. RV place (in NY) I bought it from said that it "belonged to a little old lady" who drove it and a 5th wheel trailer to Florida for the Winters. He might have been telling the truth as there were blocks of wood on the gas a brake pedals and the seat was shimmed so that it tilted forward a bit. Low enough mileage on it so I don't think any thing was replaced before I bought it. At around 100,000 I had to replace the water pump. So I pulled the timing cover off to check the chain and gears (worried about the nylon teeth) .Steel double roller. Left the same set up and just put it back together. 217000 miles on it now.
Come to think of it....my 89 LTD CV 302 had a nylon teeth cam gear.
