I for the life of me cannot find an item for my 2022 f-350 superduty long bed. I need a driver's side step to help me reach inside my tool box. Pretty much the only one who makes one is Bestop or Amp side step 2. Problem is, no one seems to have one to fit my 22, and even the manufacturer says they haven't designed one yet (as per phone conversation).
My question is this. Is there really difference between the 2021 and 2022 frame? There are plenty of places that carry one for a 2021, but when I put 2022 in the order, it says will not fit. As I said, I even called Amp research and the tech said they haven't made one for the 22 yet. Any one have any insight on this?
Have you tried Bestop? My experience with the previous generation trucks was that they had basically the same step as AMP for much less money. But this is for the rear bumper step. I haven't had a need for one on the side.
As far as the rear step I've had the same one on 4 different trucks of the current generation from 2017 to 2022. I can't imagine the frames have changed enough to make the side steps different.
I'm sorry.. Bestop is who I talked to, no AMP. And they said they didn't have one for the 22. Can't find one from Amp either.
I remember when I bought the 2017 that I had to go to an AMP step because Bestop was pretty slow on the draw to catch up to the new generation. On the previous generation I recall Bestop being about $75 lower than AMP for the rear step.
My guess is they will fit. The only changes that I am aware of from the 21 to 22 is the dash, and that is only on Lariat trims and above that got the new Sync4. Everything I have ordered for my 22 was listed to fit a 21 and it all fit fine. Often times it takes a while for companies to update the model years. I would go ahead and order it and just check fitment… if it fits install it, otherwise return it for a refund. It should be pretty obvious just by pulling it out of the box to see if it will work or not.
I’ll also add that when I ordered mine I was considering the less expensive platform steps and then getting a pair of these amp steps to get into the front of the bed… turns out it was quite a bit less expensive to just get the extended steps from Ford. Plus, I think they look better, perform better (because they’re wider) and they’re always ready to go… no worry about having to put them down to use them. Of course if you already have your truck, this isn’t really an option… but if it’s still on order I’d consider just going to the extended steps.
I have 2022 F350 CCLB. I installed the amp step on both the driver and passenger side. No problems. It fits just fine. There is no frame difference from 21 to 22. As far as I know the only difference in the 22 was the sync 4 on the higher trims. Here are photos of the driver side.
