Programming replacement trailer brake controll module
What is needed for programming replacement factory electric trailer brake controller module? 2012 f250 had a message in dash that there was a fault in the electric trailer brake control module (although it seemed to work fine) replaced the module and no more message, but no longer have functioning trailer brake control. Dealer wants over $160 to program replacement or ecm? to accept module? Is there any way for a do it yourself replacement programming? I'm thinking I might be better off getting an aftermarket controller that doesn't require any reprogramming or putting the old one back in that at least works.

If you have a windows laptop, an OBDII interface (USB or bluetooth), you can download FORScan and do it yourself.
