Im trying to get a limited slip for my truck but Im not sure exactly what I need.
88 f-250 4x2 5spd.
I think it has a Dana 60. Thats what I've been told but I dont know exactly how to tell. One friend of mine said something like "they are the only ones with 12 inch drums". But I cant remember.
Also they sell them for 4.10 gears and 3.55 gears. What do I look for on the rear end that tells me?
Hey Coogles, I have a 78 f-100, I don't know about the 88 but my rear end had a metal tab attached to one of the diffetential housing bolts that had rear axle codes on them.
Try that, if you get the codes, post them and someone will help you out. Thats how I found out what I had.
I have a 97 F-150 4x4 Lariat SuperCab with a 5.4 V8. It has proven to be a guess and a Gambit when it comes to parts replacement. Besides me finding out I had a 4R100 tranny when I was told I had a 4R70, and various other things, I have run into yet another glitch. After some run around w/ the dealer saying I had a "ten bolt" rear end, and then finding out from the "Pro Trucks" dealer that I have a "twelve bolt" rear end. I ordered the part, b/c the picture looked exactly the same. (now you can laugh). When the new diff cover came in, I drained the rear, and commenced putting the matching gasket to the new cover.....no fitting on my "twelve bolt" rear end. I do have twelve bolts, but it doesn't fit......The dealer says it is either the ten bolt or the twelve bolt.....HELP ME!!!!!!! It does take 75 140 syn fluid with friction mod. according to one tag and the other tag numbers on it. (S 909 A-1 L55 9 75.7A16) Any help????? As we speak I have an open air rear diff on a Sunday night with no stores open......Happiness.
