i have a 1986 ranger 4x4 (2.9) during the winter it wont start ! not all the time and there is no pattern as to why it wont start !
it turns over fine has spark . compression and has fuel ! i have sprayed fuel into the plenum to see if it would even try to start !
i have changed the ect sensor with no luck !
if i plug in the block heater it starts every time !
any ideas would be appreciated
If you live in a cold climate and you have a block heater...use it! Oil thickens in the cold and makes it hard for the starter to turn the engine. Bottom line...use the block heater in the winter whenever possible.
thanks for your reply
the motor has no problem turning over and it doesnt always happen in very extreme cold ! i live in southern ontario canada we get a very broad range of temps! it will start fine one day when its very cold then the next day it wont even attempt to start !
i believe the problem lies in one sensor but which one
