Transmission fluid boiled

I bought a 1993 f250 idi. I towed it back to my house using a dolly. I put the transfer case in “n” but when I got to my house the fluid sounded like it was boiling and dripping to the ground. What are the chances that I did not mess up the transmission? Not wanting to buy a new/use/remand transmission. I have already rebuilt the transfer case. Thanks in advance.

I'm no auto transmission expert, but if the transfer case and transmission were both in neutral there shouldn't have been a problem caused by towing it.
I'm assuming you bought this truck non running?

Yes I bought the truck non running. I had both in “N” but when I stopped it was sounding like a boil and dripping to the ground. I only worry it slipped into gear on the transfer case.

Being a 93 it has the E4OD transmission. You should have removed the driveshafts to flat or dolly tow it. Modern automatics have a front pump, the engine needs to be spinning to turn the transmission pump to keep fluid running through it. I suggest to only ever flat/dolly tow a RWD/4WD vehicle with an automatic on a short drive in town at a max of 40 mph or so. If you need to tow it farther or faster just remove the driveshafts and you'll be fine.

I believe you should not have any issues. The manual should tell you.Does the transfercase have a manual lever you placed in "N" or an electronic/vacuum operated actuator?
If a manual lever, the only thing I could think went wrong was linkage out of adjustment or a lift where the lever is out of sync with the markings for neutral.
[Was anything dripping on the ground?]
