1979 F100 2wd Short bed. I'm looking at putting a new set of wheels on it. I put a 521 heart in her and NEED more tire. My goal is a wider tire that does NOT stick out of the wheel well. Currently I have 15x7 with 0 offset.
Will a 15x9 with 4.25" backspace fit? I'm hoping to put some Micky T's 295/65/R15s ETs on them.
I looked at the 15x10 but the BS is only 3.5 and I believe they will stick out the wheel wells.
4 1/4" would be the standard for your vehicle. . a 15x8 fits fine so so I can't see why a 15x9 wouldn't work.
Lots of guys run 295/65's on the rear of cars with a 4 1/4" backspace 15x8's so it's hard to imagine it wouldn't work fine on a pickup. the front is another matter

255's are quite a bit smaller it's quit noticeable unless you're okay with that. I run 255's on my Challenger but I tried 295's first and it looked stupid . on your pickup I'd bet the 295's would look nice but I'd come up with something closer to the same diameter personally.

The 255s on the front right now are 30.1" in diameter.
The MT 3455's are 30.3" in diameter.
So I'm good there and the 255's will not rub in turns.
Could be , I assumed you were talking a different width series.
In any event the 4 1/4" backspacing should work with any reasonable wheel/tire combination. just measure what you have and compare it to the specs of what you want to confirm.
