Well, after working in this field of repair for 25 plus years, all for private companies, I'm taking the ASE cert tests. Are these test ok or should I be worring about them? Let me know what you think.
Most of the Mech's around here don't think much of the ASE tests, they are just that, with enough studying anybody could pass them, without ever touching a wrench. Ok Im kinda jokin about that I don't know if the tests are paper/written or what but I bet they aren't that difficult.
I've seen the tests and taken a few just for practice.
What trips me up is they ask things weird.
They give you a problem and have Tech A & B give answers. Then you have to decided whos right, A or B or both or niether. Sometimes there both right on some parts but not the whole problem. Then you have to pick which one is more right. PITA.
They usually have it so that 2 of them are obviously not the answer and then you have to figure it out which one of the other two it is. They also try to trick you a lot too by wording the questions funny or giving you and answer that should be it but isn’t because of some stupid reason.
