2001 XLT and CC was working fine last time I used it and now doesn't come on when hitting on-off button or when I try to set speed. Checked fuses and all are good. Any ideas what else to start checking? Never had problems or worked on CC before. Thanks, Tom
On trucks of this era, ALWAYS start by checking the switch on the master brake cylinder. It has to pass power to the speed control module in order for it to operate and it is a very high failure rate item.
You can also run the speed control self-test and see what it reports.
Make sure you truck has had this recall work done or you risk fire. Brake fluid leaked into the original switch, shorted in a live circuit and caused fires. Did not know about the recall, and very glad mine wasn't in the garage at the time. My cruise had quit working a couple months beforehand.

True story and the recall put a fused harness out there at the master cylinder.
You should see if you have the little added harness and check that fuse
The recall should have been done on that 01 by now right?
It was issued in November of 2005. Recall # was 05S28.
I was still at the dealer in 04 and I know for a fact there was a brake pressure switch related recall or maybe TSB, but damned if I can remember the exact parameters, I thought it was the cc issue. I changed a ton of those leaky switches under warranty. Or perhaps it was just a repair procedure due to the failed cc. Getting old sux.....
