Jack help

Hi.I have these jacks on an old camper I bought and they don’t work well. When I took the camper off the truck all four squirted oil. I found the kits to fix them.I’m clueless about these things,so my question is has anybody around here ever worked on these things and how difficult was it?

They look like hydraulic jacks. The best I can offer is a link to the repair kit’s instructions:

Also, check YouTube for a video.

Thanks a lot. I think I’ll pull the trigger on the kit and give it a go.

Sorry, can't help much. Had 2 different campers with hydraulic jacks and the only leak or repair I had to make was on the last one. It had the knurled release ***** and the leak was around 2 of those. I needed to replace the O rings on them and just replaced all four. Never had to do a full break down and do a complete rebuild on them. They were very reliable.

I've dealt with those for decades. The options for crank jacks and/or electric jacks are so good that I'd switch before rebuilding those Rieco hydraulic units. Or any hydraulic units for that matter. They have so much potential to dump a camper on its side due to a small leak or a drastic turn of the valve or etc. Crank jacks like the never have that issue. If you don't crank it down it never goes down. Simple. Add a drill with an adapter to make operations even easier. Even if you're just using them for leveling, a slow leak putting the camper much off level overnight etc. can ruin your refrigerator. Again, mechanical jacks never have this issue.

I know replacing with crank jacks costs more, but so does a sideways camper or a flattened person/pet/adjacent vehicle/etc.

My $0.02 .
