Hello, my trucks od light was flashing and wouldn’t go into od, so I replaced the solonoid, and it runs good now. When I had the pan off I found this piece of crap on the magnet, I suspect it’s a od snap ring, or just a snap ring in general. What y’all thinking? What should be my next actions? Tranny has 300,000k miles, but runs as it should now with no solonoid, or light. Thanks y’all. New here. It’s bowed with end bent slightly upwards. Mm instead of in There are rub marks, and I’d say heat or something because that black isn’t oil. There are 2 indentations, just large enough to fit the tip of my fingernail into it. Far away pic. The bend is shown here.

That does look like part of a snap ring. Which one? I can't tell.

You have two choices. Run it until it fails, which could be another 100,000 miles, or take it out and rebuild it now.

I do not believe you. There is no way this transmission has 300,000,000 miles. Assuming your truck is a 1999, you would have had to average 1,500 MPH for every minute of those 23 years to reach 300 million miles. You do know that k means 1,000, right? So 300,000k means 300,000 times 1,000, which is 300 million.
My apologies, the truck has three hundred thousand miles, not 300,000,000, thats quite a few more lol, but yea I think it’s a part of the overdrive snap ring. I just figured I’d check and see what y’all had to say. I’m probably gonna baby it until it fails. It’s just weird how it works like there’s nothing wrong with it, even though there’s definitely something In pieces. Thanks for your help. Do you think your average joe could rebuild one of these? Or should I have a shop do it? I can do the engine in my shop no problem, got the tools for engines, but trannys, idk nothing about. What do you think I should do?
