351M timing chain cover
351M timing chain cover
It's been a while since I've had a 351M torn down. I may have a problem with the eccentric for the fuel pump and it's difficult to see the timing chain cover with the A/C pump and hoses in the way.
If I recall correctly, to get to the eccentric I need to remove the water pump and the timing chain cover which is essentially a flat plate. Can I remove the timing chain cover without having to drop the oil pan such as with a 351W?

400 timing cover install; lower oil pan? - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums (ford-trucks.com)
Same for a 351M. It can be done with minor mods to the lip on the lowest edge of the timing chain cover.
Stock, it will not go straight in with the front oil pan gasket "seal" and channel on the cover. ... but it has a seal for the crank shaft, so it needs to go straight in.
What are you thinking is wrong with the eccentric?
