Instrument cluster lighting

On a 2012 f350 xlt, with just the most basic instrument cluster (no info screen other than just the green lettering one)...how is the cluster illuminated? Are there bulbs behind which can be replaced or swapped for LEDs? My cluster looks like *** at night, the speedo is far brighter than the tach and the other gauges look bad as well. Really the only thing that "brightens" up is the speedo, and that's with the dimmer up all the way. If I dim it down at all its all almost unreadable. Just curious before I rip it all apart. I'd just replace it with a better cluster but I read the whole mileage thing makes it rough.

Most newer Ford dashes use LED's. No bulbs to replace.
