Ok, I'm at my wit's end. Other than taking a plasma cutter to it, I have no idea how to get it out of the hole.
Are we sure there aren't any clips somewhere? There are 2 small clip-looking things on the sides, but nobody ever mentions them.
1. I've run PB Blaster into the hole.
2. I've removed the tire and the entire wheel well.
3. I bought a bolt and threaded it into the PCM to use for leverage...The bolt stripped all the way out, and disconnected...The PCM never budged.
I've been yanking on this thing in one way or another for over 2 hours. It doesn't move.
I wonder if I can get at it from inside the truck? Maybe take off the driver's side kick panel and properly beat the living hell out of it with a large hammer until it either shatters into 50 pieces or pops out the other side?
There is a large cast piece of metal that I have found makes getting at the PCM from inside the cab very difficult. It may give you some leverage to push it forward perhaps.
Glad you got it out. Nice video. Overall the condition inside is not bad from afar, but with all that corrosion on the outside you can bet there is damage inside as well as the pins. Check the cowl drains to make sure they are clear to allow moisture to drain out. Look closely at the seams to see if you have a leak getting into the cab. I think the hood/cowl seal extends over the PCM are too. Something else to look at.
Will do. Thanks again for hanging with me and my struggles today. Ordered the new PCM from RockAuto (My preferred) will be here Wednesday. Hopefully, this will cure what ails me.
