Please Help Me Identify this Brake Sensor/Switch

  • Hi All,
Got a 93 F250 with the 460. Brake fluid is leaking into the connector housing and is causing my interior fuse #13 to short to ground and blow so I need to replace it. Sorry if I am missing something obvious but I've looked all over the manual and I can't find this anywhere. There is a Light Green/Red wire going into it that is battery hot and tan/yellow or white/yellow (hard to tell) wire going into it. The rear break line from the master enters on the right and the bottom goes to the RABS valve. Steering shaft is just to the right in the picture.

Any ideas?

Cruise Control deactivation switch. Known fire hazard. Replace it asap.

The replacement for this switch comes with a new jumper harness
Part number:
MOTORCRAFT SW6350

I watched the dealer install it once. All they did was pour brake fluid into the new switch just prior to quickly swapping out the old part.
No bleeding the system is necessary if you are quick about it.

^^^ that's exactly what I got, Thanks for the confirmation.

Yeah, I killed 2 birds with one stone on this one. I have bled the brakes so many damn times and it would always start out great and gradually become mushy again. It was frustrating the hell out of me. No visible external leaks, no level drop in the master. I was pulling my hair out over this one. This switch was covered by a large black boot that was concealing any sign of leakage.

I am actually happy this fuse blowing issue popped up, because it finally led me to the solution of my brakes getting air in the lines. Also happy my truck didn't burn to the ground.

As an engineer, you gotta be a special kind of stupid to make that circuit battery hot. IGN hot at the most. Who needs a functioning cruise control switch without the truck running? lol
