Rear Brake problems....

I have replaced the rear wheel cylinders on the drivers side twice in 1 month and the pass. side once in the same time period! It appears that the entire guts of the brake system have just fallen apart when I pull the drums off. I have a manual that shows a sort of clip for the parking brake to pad attachment, however my B2 does not have that type of device? Please HELP, I am becoming way too good at replacing pads and wheel cylinders....

It sounds as though the shoe retaining springs and clips are missing, although I don't see how you could put it together like this.

Why do the cylinders keep failing? Are the pistons over-extending?

Yes the pistons are over extending, and all the springs are in place when the drum goes back on.

Are you adjusting the brakes after you put the drum back on.

I think I found the problem, I was not putting the adjuster back in properly. The adjuster was in turn not adjusting out but was turning in , falling out, and destroying everything in its path around the drum! I certainly hope this fixes it for the last time...
